President Joe Biden on Thursday called for concrete legislation against the gun violence afflicting the United States and called for a ban on the sale of assault weapons such as those used in the Texas and New York state massacres. Hours later, a new shooting shocked the country again after a man shot two young men to death in an Iowa church parking lot and then took his own life.

The incident took place outside Cornerstone Church, an important church on the outskirts of Ames, Story County Police Captain Nicholas Lennie told the Des Moines registry. Investigators did not specify the age of the deceased.

“We are deeply saddened,” Mark Vance, of the Salt Company’s youth ministry at Cornerstone Church, said in a statement. “A tragic shooting occurred tonight involving two young members of our Cornerstone Church community. An adult male is believed to have shot both of these victims and Then he took his own life“added the message.

According to police reports, at around 7 pm this Thursday, several calls to the emergency health services began to arrive warning of a shooting while a program was underway in the church. That congregation hosts a regular Thursday night event for the Compagnia del Sale.

The governor made conditions for access to a weapon more flexible two months ago

On April 3, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds enacted a law that made it easier to get a firearm.

Under that law, people are no longer required to have a gun permit when purchasing a firearm, although arms dealers were still required to complete a federal background check. Strictly speaking, the new law worries the security forces.

“The legislature focused on making it easier to own and transport firearms, but I think they did it at the risk of public safety,” said Linn County Sheriff Brian Gardner.
