The 32-year-old nanny, who confessed to throwing a child out of the window in the city of Soliera in Modena province of Italy, was arrested by the Italian police.
Italian Monica Santi, accused of attempted murder by local authorities, said she would take this action because of a psychological problem.
“I took the baby and threw it out the window, but I don’t know why I did it. It looks like a disease, a kind of catalepsy,” the nanny said during the trial.
The woman will undergo a psychiatric evaluation over the next few days to see if she is truly experiencing a psychological problem.
The 13-month-old baby, whose name has not been released, is being treated at Maggiore hospital in Bologna. Doctors, however, did not say how long it would take for the baby to recover.
