The UK will send yours first long-range missiles in Ukraine after Russia attacked the outskirts of Kiev for the first time since April, the British Defense Ministry said Monday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had warned him attack new targets and the West has given Ukraine more weapons.

Defense Minister Ben Wallace indicated that his country will send a unspecified number of M270 launcherswhich can fire precision-guided missiles up to 80 kilometers, a range greater than any missile technology currently in use in warfare.

“The UK supports Ukraine in this fight and is taking on a leadership role in providing their heroic forces with the vital weapons they need to defend their country from an unprovoked invasion, ”Wallace said in the statement.

“If the international community continues to support, I think Ukraine can win. As Russia’s tactics change, our support for Ukraine must also change,” he stressed.

Ukrainian forces, the minister said, will be trained in the UK to use the equipment. According to the Defense, the decision to supply the launchers was coordinated closely with the United States.

It was after Washington announced the shipment of new missiles that Putin had promised to attack new targets.

New attacks in Kiev

On Sunday, Kiev was the target of the first Russian attacks on the capital since April 28, while Moscow forces also maintained a constant pressure through artillery and air strikes in the eastern Donbas region.

The Russian general staff said that Russian forces had launched five X-22 cruise missiles from the Caspian Sea towards Kiev and that one had been destroyed by anti-aircraft defenses. Four other missiles hit “infrastructure structures”, although Ukraine said there were no casualties.

Until the attack on Sunday morning, Kiev had not suffered Russian air strikes. from the visit of the Secretary General of the United NationsAntonio Guterres.
