President Jair Bolsonaro said on Tuesday he had information that left him “backed” in the election that resulted in US President Joe Biden’s victory in 2020. Leader in Los Angeles during the Americas Summit.

Those who say (about US election fraud) are the American people. I won’t go into details about the sovereignty of another country. Now, Trump was doing very well and a lot has come to us, we will defend our right. We don’t want it,” he said.

Bolsonaro is an outspoken admirer of Biden’s predecessor, Donald Trump, who was defeated in the 2020 election and has baselessly claimed widespread fraud in the US presidential election.

Trump challenged the results in a US court, and all of his claims were dismissed by the judiciary. Bolsonaro, who will run for reelection in October, is also questioning the electronic voting system in Brazil without giving any justification.

Bolsonaro said in the interview that the meeting with Biden, which will take place this week, could be a fresh start in relations between Brazil and Washington, depending on the dynamics adopted by the US president at the meeting.

When asked if Biden could pressure him on the environmental issue, particularly the destruction of the Amazon, Bolsonaro said he did not believe that would happen.

“I think he wouldn’t want to impose anything on what I should do at Amazon. I think he knows me, he must have gotten information from people who know me,” he said.
