According to the British tabloid Metro, a mercenary known as one of President Vladimir Putin’s “favorites” was killed by a Ukrainian sniper. Vladimir Andonov, 44, known as “The Executioner”, was a member of the Wagner Group and was murdered in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

The Wagner Group is a Russian private military organization made up of ex-paratroopers and special forces agents. The group is accused of committing crimes and “serious human rights violations” in the countries in which it operates.

Andonov earned the nickname “The Executioner” for his violent strategies while fighting in Ukraine and other missions in Syria and Libya. He is believed to have played a key role in the mass shooting of Ukrainian POWs.

The mercenary’s death was previously uncovered by the Russian newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets, and this publication still claims the death was likely caused by a sniper. “He died last night while exploring the area with a colleague.”

A Ukrainian military Telegram channel said that he died together with Bair Mitupov, a fighter from the Buryatia region.

Additionally, Putin lost two more generals in a single attack on Sunday: Lieutenant General Roman Berdnikov and Major General Roman Kutuzov were killed in the same ambush on a bridge in eastern Ukraine, according to Metro.
