A seven-man helicopter disappeared from Italy’s weather radars this Thursday (9) and is being sought by Military Aviation, Fiscal Guards, Civil Protection, firefighters and volunteers from the cities of Lucca and Modena.
According to official information, air searches are concentrated between the regions of Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany, where the aircraft must make the route. Land teams were also sent to the area between Pievepelago and San Pellegrino in Alpe, but the road is quite difficult as it is an area with dense vegetation and mountains.
According to the information received from the Roto Cart company, which leases the equipment, four Turkish passengers, two Lebanese and the pilot Italian, are on the flight.
The helicopter departed from Capannori airport in Lucca around 9:30 am and departed for Resana in the province of Treviso. The equipment was rented by the brand for three days to take potential buyers to the company’s headquarters, making two flights a day on the same route – in flights of about an hour.
However, sources in the investigation reported that the final signal from the helicopter would be recorded around 11:50 PM of an Augusta AW119 Koala.
“I’m sure it didn’t fall, otherwise we would have gotten a warning signal, according to the technicians, this is something we never got,” the company’s manager, Giuliano Gelain, quickly told ANSA. Local residents report that at the time of the disappearance, the area was suffering from a severe storm accompanied by strong winds and lightning. Search efforts were suspended overnight and will resume early this Friday (10).
