The chain that will replace McDonald's in Russia already has a new logo

The fast food chain that will replace McDonald’s in Russia after company decided to leave the country for the war in Ukraine has unveiled its new logoan expected step in the face of the inauguration of its first headquarters which will take place this Sunday.

The logo that was unveiled is orange, green and yellow, and is made up of a burger and two fries. The information was released by a spokesperson for the Pbo System, which manages the new restaurant chain, to the Russian agency Tass.

“The green background of the logo symbolizes the quality of the products and service our guests are accustomed to. The logo will be used in the advertising campaign we are launching,” said the spokesperson.

On social media there are those who commented that the logo still resembled a letter M, while others have suggested that it was similar to the flag of Bangladeshthat has a red circle on a green background.

The first 15 fast food restaurants of this new chain will open on Sunday 12 June, announced Alexander Govor, the man who acquired the McDonald’s license and created a new company.

The entrepreneur announced it wants to reopen the iconic place of Pushkin Squarein Moscow, to then increase the current 840 locations around Russia to at least a thousand.

Govor has not yet released the name of the new chain. According to the Izvestia newspaper, the company had introduced itself at least eight possible names to Rospatent, which is the Russian government agency responsible for intellectual property.

Again according to this medium, among the names proposed there are Tot Samyiwhich translates as “the same”, and Svobodnaya Kassawhich means “available cash register”.

How McDonald’s left Russia

McDonald’s suspended the operations of its 850 restaurants in Russia on March 14shortly after the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine.

On May 16, the multinational giant, whose restaurant market share reached 7%, announced its withdrawal from Russia.

Through the mediation of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the company sold its business to its licensee, Alexander Govor. The new chain will operate under a brand new and with new menu names.

According to Tass, all employees they will keep their positions “on equivalent terms” for at least two years.

The first McDonald’s in Russia has opened its doors in the heart of Moscow more than three decades ago, shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall. He was a powerful symbol of stress relief of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union.
