Colombian drug traffickers they hid 840 kilos of cocaine in boxes of bananasthey lost them and the drugs ended up in two supermarkets in the Czech Republic. The seized shipment is worth more than $ 85 million, and the police are looking for more in three other destinations.

According to the public broadcaster CT24, after employees of these supermarkets, located in the cities of Jicin and Rychnov nad Kneznou, detected the drug shipment among the bananas, the Czech police opened an investigation and have indications that the smuggling of cocaine could be even higher.

According to police sources, security officers investigate three other destinations that the cocaine could have reached through the same fruit shipment as the distributor.

Early conclusions suggest that the drug entered Europe via the port of Hamburg, from where it was transferred, apparently by mistake, from a distributor to supermarkets.

This was specified by the head of the Central Anti-Drug Unit, Jakub Frydrych the drug arrived at the Jicin supermarket in 36 fruit boxes and Rychnov in 60 boxes, and that is a powder with 80% cocaine.

Frydrych estimated that this expedition could fetch on the black market price of 80 million euros.

Narcobanane on the border with Bolivia

Just a week ago, the Directorate General of Customs (DGA) seized 131 kilos of cocaine hidden in a truck carrying bananas that was trying to enter the country from Bolivia.

Unlike the Colombian drug seized in two Czech supermarkets, the loaves of cocaine were hidden in different parts of the truck.

“Customs officers scanned the vehicle and observed suspicious shapes. Given this indication, they cut the sheet of the trailer and found an iron chamber covered with a layer of lead. After cutting that booth with a meat grinder, 128 loaves of what turned out to be cocaine appeared, “the DGA explained.
