The idea is to show more support for Kiev in the midst of war with Russia and support from the biggest countries of the European Union.

This Saturday, it was Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s turn to go to the country for the second time since the start of the war in February. The meeting also served to hand over more dossiers for Kiev’s entry into the European bloc – a nomination that should receive the first positive approval at the commissioners’ meeting next week.

It has been rumored that Draghi will visit Kiev for months, but so far, behind-the-scenes negotiations are going on.

Italy, Germany and France are among the countries that most support the sanctions against Moscow and Vladimir Putin and defend the agenda that the bloc should have its own and common defense organization.
