Three Russian missiles hit the northern Ukrainian town of Pryluky and four towns have been ordered to evacuate because of the fire threat posed by these bombings, authorities announced on Monday.
“The enemy fired three missiles at Pryluky. Information about the destruction is being evaluated,” said Viacheslav Chaus, governor of the Chernihiv region, without giving further details.
No details were provided about the infrastructure that was attacked at Prylusky, which is home to a military airfield.
After these bombings, the evacuation of four cities – Zaizd, Petrivské, Tykhé and Sukhhostavets – was ordered because of a “threat of fire spread,” according to the authorities.
After the withdrawal of Russian troops from the Kyiv region and the north in early April, this region was relatively on the border of conflicts between Ukrainian and Russian troops.
However, on May 17, an attack on a military base in the Chernihiv area killed 87 people, making it one of the most severe casualties of Russian bombardments against Ukraine since February 24, when the invasion began.
