According to the RIA news agency, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said today that Moscow rejects the ideology of limited nuclear war and that any accusation, unlike the West, is unfounded.
William Burns, director of the US Central Intelligence Agency, said last month that the intelligence community had seen no practical evidence of “a Russian plan to deploy and even use tactical nuclear weapons,” but said the West could not ignore the risk of doing so.
Russia’s official policies on military mobilization allow the use of nuclear weapons if nuclear weapons – or other types of weapons of mass destruction – are used against Russia or if the country faces an existential threat from conventional weapons.
