The Icelandic phallus has incorporated a cast of the erect penis of legendary musician Jimi Hendrix into its collection as an incentive to increase visits after the pandemic.
This museum houses a collection of almost 400 piecesranging from sexual organs of whales in plexiglass tubes to raccoon penises in formalin.
In its archives there is also the compilation of all forms of the genitals of the Icelandic basketball team who won the silver medal at the Beijing Olympics.

Now visitors can admire the latest piece added to the collection, a work of the American artist Cynthia Albrittonwho dedicated his work to plastering rock stars’ penises.
A certificate of authenticity describes that the item is a replica of a 1968 original made of latex two years before the artist’s death, author of themes such as “Lady Foxy” Y “Hey, Joe”died of an overdose at the age of 27.
“This is definitely it one of our most precious piecessaid Thordur Olafur Thordarson, the museum’s deputy curator.

The story behind the acquisition is fruit of chance. An American couple who visited the museum were close to the artist and told her about the Faloteca.
“They thought it would be a great opportunity for her leave a permanent legacyThordarson explained.
