The National Institutes of Health (NIH) said scientist Anthony Fauci, who is the White House’s lead adviser on responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, tested positive Wednesday after a rapid antigen test.

“He is currently experiencing mild symptoms,” the NIH said, adding that the 81-year-old scientist has received a full vaccination schedule and two booster vaccines and has not been in recent contact with US President Joe Biden.
