Warren Buffett, American investor and businessman
A man who has not revealed his identity will be the star of one of the most expensive lunches in history after paying 19 million dollars at a charity auction with American billionaire Warren Buffett.
The event that ended this Friday in San Francisco was organized by the NGO Gilde together with the Ebay company and the money raised will be used to help people in a street situation.
The deals were opened last Sunday and the starting price was 25 thousand dollars. However, unlike other editions, the number quickly increased and within hours it had already become one of the most expensive auctions.
The reason? This is the last chance to share a dinner with the 91-year-old businessman considered the best investor in the world. It was he who just over a month ago denigrated cryptocurrencies and since then bitcoin has dropped 58% while others have depreciated even more.

That is why every year several economists and investors compete in these auctions – which did not take place in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic – to share a meeting with him, have a chat and receive his advice.
In this sense, the latest winner of the lunch was a cryptocurrency entrepreneur, Justin Sun, who had set the previous record, in 2019, at 4.57 million dollars.
Another person known for winning the match is Ted Weschler, who after spending more than $ 5 million on two auctions between 2010 and 2011 received a job offer from Buffett’s company and is currently working as an investment. manager for Berkshire in Omaha, Nebraska.
This time around, the winning man, who they believe will be kept anonymous as many other former winners have decided, will spend “an unforgettable afternoon” with the American businessman and seven other guests at Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse in New York.
The auction
The NGO began auctioning dinners with the businessman in 2000 and has raised more than $ 53 million since then.
Buffett, 91, president of Berkshire Hathaway, said his dinner experience was “good” and that over the years he has met “many interesting people from all over the world”.
“On behalf of Glide, I thank Warren Buffett for his unwavering generosity, dedication and contribution to our mission,” said Karen Hanrahan, president of Glide.
