East June 21st occurs on Winter solstice in the southern hemisphere of our planet.

That day, in addition to the beginning winterit’s special because it will be the longest night of the year and the shortest daylight. Temperatures will drop more and more and the days will be darker until, from this date, the Sun stops falling to begin, slowly, to return to the south of the Earth.

Thus, with the passage of time, the light and heat will return, the earth will turn green, the plants will bloom and hope will return to the world.

What is the meaning of the winter solstice: ancestral rites

The winter solstice opens the doors to the most “passive” moment of the year, a time of preparation in which we must recover strength and purify ourselves to start spring with energy.

For a large number of cultures, the start of this season represents a time of renewal and rebirththat’s why you vary parties and rituals Worldwide.

In Argentina, from Jujuy to Tierra del Fuego, indigenous cultures celebrate this event with rituals of changethe beginning of a new cycle of nature and human beings.

In this sense, indigenous peoples recognize and honor the cosmic order and the laws of nature. The Mapuche worship the return of the sun with festivals such as the Wiñoy xipantu or the Machaq Mara.

In the north of the country and in Cusco it is celebrated “Inti Raymi” or the feast of the Sun, a celebration of a sacred, ceremonial and cyclical nature, in which we recognize the moment of the rebirth of time and come back to yourself.

During the Inti Raymi the Willka Nina (il sacred fire) all night long and is accompanied by dancing, games and singing. In this way, they try to strengthen their bonds. Then, they receive the sunrise with their arms outstretched towards it.

The Mapuche, for their part, celebrate We Tripantu (“new rising of the sun and moon”), the new year or the longest night of the year, and they honor it as the time when the Star King begins to regain his strength and pushes the earth to be reborn.

So let’s use this force and put these on rituals to harness all the energy of this day.

Energy renewal ritual

Preferably during the early hours of this Tuesday, June 21 – if it is not possible, it can be done at night – we prepare an altar with a white candle, a cup of lemon tea and a yellow ribbon.

On a white sheet we detail all those projects that we want to start and finalize, we write how we plan to start them (what we need to do, what help we need) and everything we need to change or modify in order to go further.

Once the list is finished, we fold the sheet in half and hold it with our two hands.

So, we light the candle, close our eyes and visualize ourselves surrounded by a white aura that makes our projects come true. We hold the leaf firmly and imagine that we transfer energy to it with our hands.

After a few minutes, we finish viewing and state: “Thanks thanks thanks”.

When the candle goes out, we throw the tea in a pot or in a place with earth. We keep the paper and, if possible, we read it every day until our wish comes true.

Ginger purifying tea ceremony

This June 21, the day of Winter solsticeit is an ideal day to detox and prepare to face the rest of the year with energy.

In the morning we prepare a carafe of ginger tea, an energizing and purifying drink.

How do you prepare yourself? We put the water to heat, once it boils, put the pieces of ginger and let them boil for a minute. Then, we let the liquid rest and after about 15 minutes we remove the pieces of ginger.

During the day, we drink three cups of this tea. It is better not to sweeten it, but if we want, it is better to use honey.

Whenever we drink this infusion, we try to do it in a peaceful environment. Relax, we visualize ourselves surrounded by a golden aura that gives us energy to re-emerge.
