A martial arts champion subdued and neutralized a man who was beating a woman on a street in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The protagonist was Ruth Torello, who works as director of the Academy of Martial Arts of the Municipality of Guayaquil.
On June 16, while walking through the streets August 10 and Pedro Carbo, he saw a couple arguing. The man, however, hit his wife in the face, then the athlete intervened and He applied an immobilizer key to the batter.
Torello remained on site until the police arrived and arrested the violent man. The same mayor of Guayaquil, Cinzia Viterihighlighted the athlete on social media, underlining to “work in the municipality giving self-defense lessons to girls and women”.

“The girl told her husband to let her go please, so when she tries to separate, he takes her right hand and slaps her in the face. When I saw that reaction, the first thing I did was between the two of them and hold this man by the wrists and throw him to the ground (…) There were a lot of people around and they did absolutely nothing, ”Ruth Torello later declared.
