Kyiv, June 20 (EFE).- The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported this Monday, on World Refugee Day, that 7.7 million people have left the country since February 24, when the invasion began.

The data, published through the folder’s Telegram account and updated until last Thursday, is based on United Nations statistics.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, out of the 7.7 million inhabitants who left the territory of Ukraine, 2.5 million returned.

“As a result of Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine this year, millions of Ukrainian refugees worldwide have joined this large group,” the statement said.

“People have fled and continue to flee from danger, from explosions and bombings, from armed and brutal criminals whose lives are of no value,” the Interior Ministry said.

On Thursday, 3.2 million refugees from the country were registered to seek temporary protection or participate in similar national programmes, according to data from the Ukrainian government in Europe.
