Santulli had a stroke and was taken by his colleagues to the door of the University Hospital and left unconscious in a car. Although the doctors were able to revive him, the consequences were dire: he was blind, dumb and unable to move.

During the first days at the medical center, the student was in intensive care, connected to an artificial respirator. His blood alcohol level was 0.468%, five times the legal limit in the United States.

There they diagnosed that he had suffered “massive brain damage”, a condition that currently keeps him completely dependent on his family.

Santulli’s relatives have sued the brotherhood and 22 people for the incident, but so far no one has taken responsibility for the hazing. The University of Missouri banned the people involved from entering the campus due to the serious crimes committed against the student.

Two new defendants

The novelty of the case is this two new ones are identified Among those accused of forcing the boy to drink alcohol: Samuel Gandhi Y Alec Wetzler.

Bianchi asked in a court motion Monday to add these fraternity members to the lawsuit. The trial judge approved it. The lawyer understands that both of them must be involved negligence.

Wetzler allegedly organized the event in which what happened and forced Santulli to drink excessive amounts of alcohol, according to the lawyer’s complaint.

Gandhi, on the other hand, was sued because that night he returned to Santulli’s room and saw that the young man, completely unconscious, had not moved from where they had left him and had not done anything to help him.

“At 00:28, Danny partially slid off the sofa and ended up on his face on the ground, but he had no voluntary control of his arms or legs and stayed there until someone who was crossing the room saw him and got him. lifted up again. put the sofa on ”, indicates Bianchi’s request.

“Her skin was pale and her lips were blue, but no one called the emergency health services,” adds the lawyer, according to the Columbia Tribune.

tragic background

In the late 1990s, a student – also a first year – named Scott Kruger he died after being the victim of a situation similar to that of Santulli in Phi Gamma Delta.

Krueger also died at an engagement party and after drinking heavily. On that occasion, the 18-year-old fell into a coma after drinking an amount of alcohol similar to that ingested by Danny.

Seeing that he was unconscious, the other students who were with him took him to a bed, where they left him until the next morning without realizing that this could be very dangerous.

Krueger choked on his own vomit.. When they found out they took him to the hospital, but it was too late. He died a few days.

It is worth clarifying that “grandparents” are the practical jokes that, in this case, older members of American fraternities make to newcomers.
