Photographers from around the world have entered the Natural World Photography Awards competition, requesting images that showcase life on Earth and the threats our planet faces.
Finalist photographs will be exhibited at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, USA.

This image perfectly captures a fruit bat flying towards a pear tree for a bite to eat, but it took a while to catch up. Photographer Sitaram Raul spent three weeks watching these bats and learning about their movements to get this perfect shot!

This image was a finalist in the wildlife category. Photographer Sandesh Kadur photographed this snow leopard. The photo is called ‘Ghost of the Mountains’, the nickname given to snow leopards because they are great at camouflage and are very difficult to photograph.

Look at this – a black male grouper swims through a school of fish. The Black Grouper is one of the largest fish in the ocean, reaching a length of 2.5 m and a weight of 360 kg!

Mexico’s underwater caves are seen in this photo, entitled ‘Hidden Beauty Under Our Feet’. Photographer Tom St. George wanted to showcase the natural beauty found in the caves, but also to highlight how they are threatened by development in the area due to tourism.
