The White House announced on Thursday that the United States will send a new $450 million military aid shipment that includes more rocket systems to be used against invading Russian forces.
“This package includes weapons and equipment, including new high-mobility artillery rocket systems,” said White House spokesman John Kirby. This shipment will also include tens of thousands of shell artillery shells and patrol boats.
Today, the European Union (EU) countries agreed to grant Ukraine and Moldova candidate status to join the bloc, European Council President Charles Michel reassured that this is a “historic day”.
The decision, taken on the first day of the European summit in Brussels, came four months after a war broke out between Russia and Ukraine.
The process of full accession to the EU, which currently has 27 member states, may take years for it to be effective.
