“We have put together some tactical drills for civilians because we all know that if the enemy enters the city there will be street fighting,” he continues. “And it usually happens in difficult places like dilapidated houses, basements or inside shops,” he adds.

Instructors work with military and civilians in three different training camps. In one they are taught the basic use of weapons, in another a more specialized course is givenand in the third there is tactical training for the use of Kalashnikov assault rifles, in principle for special forces.

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, around 4,000 people received training at the center.

“We need to know how to do it, for ourselves and for our families. We are at the forefront,” says another student, Iana Piltek, 33.
