Police in the United States say a three-year-old girl died in the care of a nurse who showed up for work after four consecutive days of being high in methamphetamine.
Nurse from Michigan, Judith Sobol , was charged with second degree murder after showing up for her shift while still on drugs. Coloma police arrived at the girl’s home around 2:30 am after receiving calls that the girl did not answer and had turned ‘blue’.
Upon arrival, the police found the parents trying to save the girl, who suffered from several pre-existing medical conditions and was left without an oxygen tube. Sobol was accused of losing the vital tube.
The 42-year-old nurse, completely drugged, and the substances found in her belongings.
Police said they found the 42-year-old nurse lying next to the girl. “incoherent and stammering”, according to People magazine. According to police reports, Sobol “was under the influence of drugs and should never have gone to work.”
After the girl was taken to the hospital, doctors found the breathing tube tangled in her hair after the nurse stated that she may have been disconnected while cleaning him and that “she probably passed out or fell asleep.”
Coloma Township Police Chief Wes Smigielski said: “Through an investigation, officers found that it was the registered nurse who was supposed to take care of the baby all night.”
Eloquent face: four days straight on methamphetamine.
“After the investigation was completed, we determined that she was high in methamphetamines and should not have been placed in the care of that child.” Police confirmed that they recovered a small container from Sobol’s bag it contained methamphetamine and two pipes inside.
Sobol also reportedly admitted taking methamphetamine for four days in a row and also getting high the same day she was called to work to monitor the girl.

The police chief explained how that type of drug was gaining popularity in the Michigan town. “Meth is making things worse around here,” he said.
“This is the first case in my career of this type of someone using methamphetamines and doing these kinds of acts.”
The nurse is accused of second degree murder.
“It’s usually a family thing, or they’re in their car, but they don’t take care of a 3 year old.” Sobol is currently held with a $ 500,000 bond.
