The PT leadership positively evaluated the vote for Jair Bolsonaro by Deltan Dallagnol, the former attorney of the Republic who coordinates the Lava Jato task force in Curitiba. The former lawyer, now Paraná’s federal candidate for parliament, said he would vote for Bolsonaro in a possible runoff between the president and PT Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
In PT’s view, Dallagnol’s statement strengthens the argument that Lava Jato had a political motive and that Lula was persecuted by Curitiba. PT members believe the former prosecutor weakened Lava Jato and proved the operation’s bias. With Lula’s arrest, outside Bolsonaro won the 2018 dispute. PT pioneered the polls.
As early as 2018, Vaza Jato released messages showing that Lava Jato prosecutors favored Bolsonaro’s victory over then-PT presidential candidate Fernando Haddad. Sergio Moro left the post of judge to become minister of the new government. Now Dallagnol reiterates Bolsonaro’s preference for the royal government.
For the PT, the former prosecutor is helping to brand Lava Jato as a political operation aligned with the far right.
date effect
Lula still believes he can persuade Márcio França to drop his candidacy for the São Paulo government and support Haddad. Lula and França spoke on Friday. The former president offered the position of candidate for senator for France, which would receive the support of the PT.
But the “Datena effect” scares France. The former governor believes he will have a better chance of winning the Senate seat if TV presenter José Luiz Datena (PSC) is nominated. Lula will once again insist on the theme.
The party congresses that formalize the nominations must take place between 20 July and 5 August. There is still time for a new attack. These issues were the subject of this week’s “Election Radar”.
