VATICAN CITY, JUNE 29 (ANSA) – Pope Francis spoke once again about the war in Ukraine and condemned the attack on a shopping mall in Kremenchuk during the Angelus’ Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Ceremony this Wednesday (29).

“I carry the saint and martyr Ukraine, who suffered from barbaric attacks like the attack that hit a shopping mall in Kremenchuk, in my heart every day. I pray that this crazy war will end soon and I wish this crazy war to end as soon as possible. I try to persevere without rest. The invitation is in prayers for peace,” he said to the believers at the end of the celebration.

During the military operation carried out by Russia on the shopping center, at least 20 were killed and nearly 60 injured on Monday (27).

Francis also asked again, “May the Lord open up the avenues of dialogue to those who do not want or cannot find it,” so that “he did not cease to help the suffering Ukrainian population”.

The Ukrainian war has been a constant feature of Francis’ speeches and prayers since November last year, when tensions over a possible war were at their height.

Since the start of the invasion of Russia on February 24, these references have been expanded.

The Pope himself wanted to visit both Kiev and Moscow as a sign of peace, but the Russian government did not respond to Vatican requests for official visits. The Ukrainians, on the other hand, agreed to leave Francis as soon as possible. (ANSA).
