Pope Francis reduced part of their scheduled July engagements and will not participate in the traditional Wednesday general audiences, open to the public, during this month.

“The general audiences on Wednesday, as usual, are suspended for the entire month of July. They will return on August 3,” the Vatican Press Office reported on Friday.

The Pope has been suffering from knee pain for months: generalized pain in the knee joint.

Although he appeared to be improving from that ailment, after being seen a few days ago walking with the aid of a cane and without the wheelchair he had started using, this new cancellation of activities puts the pope’s health in question.
