US President Joe Biden pledged to continue the fight against the “epidemic” of gun violence in the US on Monday (4), following a July 4 shooting attack in a town near Chicago that killed at least six people.
Biden said both he and First Lady Jill were “shocked by the senseless gun violence that has once again brought so much pain to an American society this Independence Day.”

He promised “I will not stop fighting the epidemic of gun violence” and stated that he passed the first major gun control law in late June, but acknowledged that “there is a lot of work to be done”.
