A new massacre shocks the United States. On Monday, six people died and at least thirty were injured after a man shot the crowd in the middle of an Independence Day parade in Chicago’s Highland Park.

One of the victims, it was recently learned, was Nicola Toledoa 76 year old grandfather who I didn’t want to be there.

“Nicolas Toledo’s family told me he was one of the people shot dead in the Highland Park 4th of July parade. “We all feel pretty numb. We’re all pretty broken on the inside, “said his nephew,” he reported. Tim McNicholasa CBS News reporter on his Twitter account.

According to the New York Times, Toledo went to the parade because due to his fragile health he could not be alone at home. Since some of his family members wanted to participate in the celebration, he had to accompany them so they could take care of him.

At the time of the shooting, he was in his wheelchair between his son and grandson. When the shots rained, Toledo received three deadly bullets.

“We were in shock,” he said. Xochil Toledo, his granddaughter, according to the Times. “We thought she was part of the parade. We saw blood and everything was sprinkled on us, “she added.

Immediately brought about the massacre, Roberto Velasco AlvarezHead of the North American unit of the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that one of the victims was a Mexican citizen with dual citizenship who emigrated between the United States and Mexico for life. It is not known whether this person was Toledo or another of the victims.

Toledo, for his part, had moved to Highland Park a few months ago at the request of his family and could not walk well because he had been hit by a car years ago.

The inmate

After being on the run for eight hours, police arrested the suspect. The Highland Park Chief of Security explained: “The person of interest is now taken to the Highland Park Police Department, where we will begin the next phase of the investigation.”

The inmate is a 22-year-old rapper who calls himself Robert E. Crimo III. He was caught after a long police chase after an officer attempted to interrogate him at a traffic stop and he refused to slow down.

When they tried to arrest him a second time, the young man wanted to escape, but was eventually arrested “without incident” near Illinois.

The suspect was later officially described as “a thin white male with brown eyes and brown hair, weighing 120 pounds”.
