The United States is shocked by the Highland Park massacre. On Monday, 6 people died and at least 30 were injured after 21-year-old Robert Crimo III shot the crowd in the middle of an Independence Day parade in Chicago.
As time passes, more and more details of the bloody massacre are known. This time, the defendant’s father, Robert Crimo Jr.She said had a key conversation with his son the day before the massacre.
A few hours after Crimo III went out to shoot in the crowd, both discussed a mass shooting in Denmark. In the Nordic country, an elderly man killed three people in a shopping center on the outskirts of Copenhagen on Sunday.

“He says to me, ‘Yeah, that kid is an idiot.’ That’s what he said! ” commented Crimo Jr., citing his son.
The killer’s father told the New York Post that at the time he replied to the young man: “To people like that … (they commit mass shootings) to provoke people who want to ban the sale of weapons.”
“I talked to him 13 hours earlier (the massacre). That’s why I think I’m in shock … Like, has he had a psychiatric crisis or something? ”The adult added.
Crimo Jr. is a former mayoral candidate known for running a neighborhood sandwich shop. Both he and his wife have faced a wave of criticism for helping their son buy weapons on his own.

It is worth remembering that Crimo III had legally obtained four weapons before the massacre and that the carabinieri also seized a sword, a dagger and 15 knives from his home.
Regarding his son’s possession of weapons, Crimo Jr. said the knives were “a childish outlet” and that they belonged to a collection.
In relation to the firearms (especially the AR-15 he used in the massacre), the man claimed that he let Crimo III buy them because he planned to use them in a firing range.
“He bought it all by himself and they are registered in his name,” said Crimo Jr.
The arrest of Crimo III
The day of the massacre after being on the run for eight hours, police arrested Robert Crimo III. The Highland Park Chief of Security explained at the time: “The person of interest is now being taken to the Highland Park Police Department, where we will begin the next phase of the investigation.”

When they tried to arrest him a second time, the young man wanted to escape, but was eventually arrested “without incident” near Illinois.
The suspect was later officially described as “a thin white male with brown eyes and brown hair, weighing 120 pounds” and it was revealed that he is a rapper.
