“The currency of the future”. True or scam? Photo: free market
A ten coin is on sale on the internet for 280,000 Mexican pesos and baffles collectors: is this money from the future or is it just a gross scam?
Many know it as “the currency of the future” because it appears to be of the year 2905. The truth is, at best, it would be just a 2005 coin with a minting error.
The one offered by the “C family” is one of the most expensive Mexican coins published on Mercado Libre. Its owners claim to be from Villaldama, Nuevo León, and in the article they only describe their belonging as “rare”.

Coins like this were put into circulation in Mexico at the turn of the century to represent the start of the millennium. They are 28 millimeters in diameter and weigh 10 grams. The sunstone shines on the front and the Mexican coat of arms on the back.
It should be noted that in the questions of the Mercado Libre publication, many users question the minting error: they accuse that someone purposely changed the zero in “2005” to look like a nine.
“Absurd price. It’s a zero hit that moved the metal. It’s not a 9, it’s round. It’s a 2005 coin, “noted one user.” It was due to a blow and wear, look under the microscope, “agreed another.

Some, for example, believed the owners and tried to bargain. “Do you have any more real photos? The truth is that I care, and I also want you to tell me your best price ”, commented one person, to whom the seller replied:“ The photo is real. Propose and we’ll see. “
these are really expensive
In the ancient coin market there are real gems that cost much more than the Mexican one. Three of them, perhaps the most precious in the world, are the Cheeky Doblone, the double eagle and the “Silver dollar flowing listening”.
The first – the doubloon – weighs 26.6 grams and dates back to the late 1700s, when the United States Mint was not yet operational. In 2011, “the first” was sold to an investment company for $ 7,400,000.

As for the double eagle, it can be said that it is gold, for 20 dollars and that in 1933 only 445,000 pieces were made. In the same year, the President of the United States, Franklin D. Rooseveltissued an executive order to withdraw from circulation all gold coins of the general public and, in turn, melt.

The “Flowing Hear Silver Dollar” is believed to be the first coin issued by the US federal government. Its size and weight were based on the Spanish Real de 8 coin, known in the Anglo-Saxon world as the Spanish dollar.
The United States Mint opened its doors in 1792, but for the first two years it saw only copper coins and a few standard coins. This detail has been preserved in its original state for over 200 years.
