A senior official of the Russian occupation authorities died as a result of an attack in Ukraine’s Kharkov region (northeast), a Russian agency said on Monday.
According to the Russian state news agency TASS, the occupation administration in the Kharkov region said on Monday that the head of the town of Veliki Burluk, Eugueni Yunakov, died as a result of the explosion of a bomb placed under his car.
According to the same source, this “terrorist act” was committed by Ukrainian saboteurs who infiltrated behind Russian lines. The date of the attack was not disclosed.
On July 6, Russian state media first spoke of the establishment of an occupation administration in the Kharkov region of eastern Ukraine, on the Russian border.
Vitali Ganchev, who runs this organization, claimed that about 20% of the area is occupied by Russian forces, and they control cities such as Izium, Vovchansk and Kupiansk.
Meanwhile, the eponymous capital of the region resisted Kremlin forces for more than four months despite nearly daily bombings.
The Ukrainian army launched several counterattacks on the outskirts of the city and achieved some victories.
Moscow established administrative bodies in two other occupation zones in southern Ukraine, the Kherson region, and part of Zaporizhzhia, which it seized in the first days of the February 24 offensive.
