London – In a world dominated by war, environmental destruction and human suffering, a photography award created in Germany invites participants to paint scenes of beauty and hope.
Cewe 2023 was opened for registrations with the theme “Our World is Beautiful”. Participation is free. The author of the best photo will win a trip to his chosen location for up to 15,000 Euros (R$83.4k), in addition to his photographic equipment and a trip to Germany to claim the trophy.
In total, the competition will give out 250,000 Euros (R$1.3 million) to the best photos in 10 categories. Professionals and amateurs over the age of 18 can compete.
Photo award will help SOS Villages
The competition is organized by a German photo processing brand. In addition to the chance to win, participants will also help with a social project. For each submitted work, Cewe will donate 10 euro cents (R$) to the international NGO responsible for the Aldeias SOS programme.
In its last edition, in 2021, the competition had a record number of entries and resulted in a donation of 60,000 Euros (R$334,000) to the NGO applied to a social project in the Port serving more than 1,000 children. -au-Prince, Haiti.
In addition to the best photography prize, the competition will present €5,000 worth of photographic equipment and €2,500 worth of Cewe photographic products to the nine winners of the other categories.
The authors of the photos ranked 11th to 30th will win 2,500 euros worth of photographic equipment and 1,000 euros worth of Cewe photography products. Those classified between 31 and 1000 will be rewarded with a EUR 100 voucher for Cewe photographic products.
In addition, three winners will be selected each month, regardless of category or country. Each of the monthly winners will receive a voucher worth €100 for Cewe photographic products. The May photograph is a poetic portrait of a pregnant woman with her child against the sunset light.

Frozen Lighthouse by Manfred Voss (landscape)
German Manfred Voss won first place overall in the Cewe photography competition in 2021 and also in the Landscape category.
For the jury, the photo shows that beauty emerges even when the world is in transition. He captured this scene early in the morning with the warm yellow light from the lighthouse contrasting with cool hues of icy blue.
CEWE Photo Award judge Ulla Lohmann summed up the magic of this photo: “It looks like it came straight out of a fairy tale.”
Cow or Glacier? by Stefan Schorno
In second place in the category is an unusual composition, where the glacier mixes with the stain on the back of the cow. Besides being beautiful, the image inspires a smile.

In the spirit of depicting the beauty of the world, the award-winning images in Sports show joy and simplicity, far removed from the typical scenes of competitive sports.
