Maria’s story is moving. She is 5 years old and has become “famous” for studying on the street under a cardboard house while her father José Gonzales washes cars to survive. The harsh situation occurs in Trujillo, Peru.

And from the viralization of the story, father and daughter have received the help of the people and also of a local educational institution, which has announced that it will grant the girl a scholarship so that she can study.

As was known, little Maria skipped the school year due to the economic crisis her father was going through.

She was caught drawing and painting on a plastic table under a cardboard roof to protect herself from the cold. María Gonzales carried out these duties at the door of a shopping mall while waiting for her father to finish his day.

José Gonzales told how proud he is of his daughter and this all the sacrifice she makes is for her to be a professional: since she couldn’t make her dreams come true.

“I stayed with my uncles. I’ve never had a father or a mother and I don’t want my daughter to do that. I pray to God that she will give me life and health to keep giving her the best which is the best thing I have in life. What I do is because she is my daughter and I love her very much. I know that one day she will be a professional, so I ask her to study – and she does – it fills me with pride, “she said.

The local population has formed a chain of aid to improve their economic condition. In this context, a school offered the girl a scholarship so that she could have a basic education.

It is worth mentioning that María’s scholarship includes all study material and they have also provided her with the uniforms she will use.

“I, as a father, will support you 100%. I want it to be someone someday, that’s my goal. I know that she will succeed, I have faith in God and I know that God will guide me “, she assured her.

The father also hopes to find a job in the next few days and thus continue to give the best to his daughter.
