Deer Supermoon 2022: the most spectacular images in the world

It was highly anticipated and Deer supermoonthe most important astronomical phenomenon of the month arrived this July 13, 2022. And its spectacular images amaze the whole world.

A brighter and bigger moon, it can seem even 7% more than the others, lights up the skies and everyone is talking about it. It forms at the perigee and is located 357,418 kilometers from planet Earth.

According to POTthis deer supermoon will last from this Tuesday until the early hours of Friday the 15th and its highest point will be Wednesday 13th July at 2:48 pm, but will only be fully visible in North America until moonrise.

The Superluna is so named because it appears during the time of year when male deer grow new antlers in the Northern Hemisphere.

How to best see the Superluna of the deer

Like all full moons, its spectacle transcends borders and will be visible from anywhere on the planet.

But a clear sky and little light pollution will be indispensable conditions to be able to admire it in all its splendor.

Its craters, mountains and other formations can be appreciated with the help of binoculars and a little patience. And with the naked eye you will be able to see the plateaus and plains of the lunar surface, which can take on certain shapes with cultural meanings.

Because it is called Luna Full of Cervo other names

Its name of Deer Supermoon is due to the fact that it appears during the season of the year when, in the Northern Hemisphere, male deer grow new antlers, he describes National Geographic.

Some native communities inhabiting the United States called it as “Lunar thunder”because it usually appears in the season of severe summer storms.

Another name assigned is “Moon Salmon”, because a study published by Smithsonian magazine showed that schools of salmon swim faster and deeper during full moons, while lighting their way.

Finally, some rural communities refer to this astronomical phenomenon as “Hay Luna” as this plant is harvested and harvested during the summer and stored for the winter months.

Why Do Supermoons Occur?

A supermoon occurs when the full moon coincides with the satellite’s closest approach to Earth in its elliptical orbit, known as the lunar perigee.
