• Targeted Sloviansk after the fall of Severodonetsk and Lyssychansk

After conquering Severodonetsk and Lyssytchansk and taking control of Luhansk Oblast, Russia wants to take over Donetsk Oblast. The goal is therefore to control the whole of Donbass, in eastern Ukraine. To achieve this, the Russian army intends to conquer Sloviansk.

The Ukrainian army claims for the moment to have repelled the attacks. To prepare for its advance, Russia should target other targets in the vicinity according to the British Defense Minister. “In Donbass, Russian forces are likely to focus on taking several small towns over the next week, including Siversk and Dolyna, outside of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk,” he wrote on Twitter.

• 52 Russian soldiers killed by a Ukrainian attack

Kyiv does not want to lose its vigor as Moscow continues its advance in Ukraine. This Tuesday, an attack hit a Russian army ammunition depot a few tens of kilometers from Kherson, in the south of the country. According to Ukrainian military officials, 52 Russian soldiers were killed in this attack.

For his part, the head of the civil-military administration installed in this town by the Russian forces, Vladimir Leontiev, denounced an “act of terrorism” and “a terrible tragedy”, stating on Telegram: “here there is no military objective” . “.

• New Western aid to Ukraine

While the United States announced $1.7 billion in new economic aid to Ukraine on Tuesday, European Union finance ministers approved a payment of €1 billion. This is the first installment of a package of 9,000 million euros announced by the European Commission last May.

Taking this aid into account, the total amount of EU27 macro-financial aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion is €2.2 billion.

• Russia questioned in the G20

The G20 of Foreign Ministers on the Indonesian island of Bali saw the first meeting since the start of the invasion between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The latter shied away from meetings with his counterparts after an avalanche of Western statements condemning the war.

The host country, Indonesia, called for “resolving differences at the negotiating table, not on the battlefield,” stressing that “as always, poor and developing countries bear the brunt” of the consequences of the conflict. Sergei Lavrov criticized his Western colleagues for having obscured world economic problems to engage in “frantic criticism of Russia over the situation in Ukraine.”
