Next comes the Madrid restaurant Diverxo, fourth. The ceremony also rewarded Colombian chef Leonor Espinosa, nominated by the organization as Best female chef in the world 2022 in May.

This is the second consecutive year that a Danish restaurant has received the award. Last year, Geranium finished in second place, behind “Noma”, also in the Danish capital.

Inspired by nature, his chef Rasmus Kofoed won the Bocuse d’Or in 2011 and his restaurant received the first three Michelin stars in 2016.

The prizes have been awarded since 2002 by 1,080 “independent experts” (chefs, specialized journalists, restaurateurs, “traveling gourmets”, etc.) who evaluate their experiences over the last 18 months.

Spread across 27 regions of the world, each can choose 10 restaurants, of which at least three must be outside their geographic region.

The ceremony, originally scheduled for Moscow, was moved to London following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February.

There were no Russian restaurants in the final standings, as the organizers had announced in March.

The legitimacy of this classification, sponsored by various brands, is often disputed, especially by French chefs who accuse it of complacency and opacity.

This is why his detractors, including French, Japanese and American, launched “The List” in 2015, a ranking of 1,000 restaurants around the world.

An Argentine, among the best

Once again, the 50 Best Restaurants in the World ceremony has become a festive occasion for Argentines as Don Julio’s grill continues to be among the 15 best restaurants in the world. This time he managed to finish in 14th place in the ranking.

In 2021 he reached the 13th position in the world, thus losing one position and remaining in the top 15. The ceremony was attended by Pablo Rivero, owner of Don Julio: “It is an immense joy to be in the ranking for the fourth place year in a row The pandemic it meant great difficulties traveling, which added to how far Argentina is for those evaluating restaurants, “he told Clarín.
