A new autopsy performed a Debanhi Escobarthe young woman whose death shook Mexico revealed that the woman died of asphyxiation by suffocation “in its variety of obstruction of the respiratory orifices”‘, the researchers reported on Monday 19.
The results of the autopsy They did not specify what blocked Debanhi Escobar’s nose and mouth. The 18-year-old girl was found dead inside a tank partially filled in a motel near the city of Monterrey in northern Mexico last April.
Dr. Felipe Takajashi, director of the Mexico City Legal Service, said the most recent autopsy on the woman’s exhumed remains revealed no signs of sexual assault. He indicated that he died between three and five days before his body was found.
Debanhi Escobar’s last image alive: alone, on a street.
Escobar’s body was found days after he got out of a taxi in the middle of the street at night. The case attracted attention due to the heartbreaking photo taken by the taxi driver who was supposed to take her home that night. The driver said she got out of the vehicle of her own free will. and that he took the picture to prove he was alive when he left her.
The photo touched the hearts of several people across the country: a young woman standing in the middle of the night by the side of a road in a skirt and sneakers. The image seemed to expose enormous vulnerability and securityor despair, by Escobar.
Authorities decided that his remains needed to be exhumed after the first two analyzes yielded contradictory results.

The conflicting results
The head of the coroner service of Nuevo León initially said that Escobar died of a blow to the headbut that he was apparently alive when he entered the cistern and that there was no water in his lungs.
But another forensic analysis of the initial autopsy conducted at the request of Escobar’s family concluded that he was sexually assaulted and killed.
His father, Mario Escobar, said he was told by prosecutors that footage from the security cameras indicated that the taxi driver had inappropriately touched his daughter.
The case was surrounded by mysteries. Authorities had searched several parts of the motel before the body was found.

Footage from the motel’s security cameras showed it Escobar walked into the motel and wandered around the placefinally moving away from the cameras and heading towards the place where three cisterns were located near a swimming pool.
Some reports had indicated that the woman may have accidentally fallen into one of the tanks and died. Prosecutors said her body was found in one of the tanks, her purse in another, while her cell phone and keys were in the third tank.
Debanhi’s case has sparked unusual interest and protests in Mexico, hit by a femicide crisis for three decades, and in other countries, where the image of the young woman alone on a highway moments before her disappearance went viral.
In Mexico, an average of 10 women are killed every dayaccording to official data, the majority belong to the poor sectors. Many of these cases correspond to gender-based violence.
Experts believe that the death of Debanhi, a middle-class university student, brought this experience closer to the most favored social sectors, generating greater social impact and pressure.
