Ukraine’s First Lady, Olena Zelenka, said the war in the country made her youngest son want to become a soldier. “He just wants to do martial arts and learn to use a rifle,” she said in an interview with NBC News.

Olena noted that before the war, the nine-year-old had other hobbies connected with the arts and humanities. She reports that she does folk dancing, plays the piano, and takes English and sports lessons.

In her message to lawmakers, Olena reinforced Zelensky’s call for more weapons to be sent to Ukraine as a way to stop the Russian invasion.
