Former US First Lady Melania Trump, wife of former President Donald Trump, said in a new interview with Fox “I was not aware” from the riots underway on January 6, 2021 because she was too busy photographing a carpet in the White House.
“On January 6, 2021, I was fulfilling one of my duties as First Lady of the United States of America and, consequently, I was not aware of what was going on at the same time as the United States Capitol, “he said.
That January 6th Nearly 10,000 Trump supporters marched on Capitol Hill. and around 800 broke into the building, in an unprecedented event that resulted in five deaths, around 140 police officers injured and more than 850 people arrested.
Trump, 76, who has repeatedly hinted that he will run again in the 2024 elections, was indicted by the House on charges of inciting an insurrection, but was acquitted by the Senate.

Melania Trump said it was her “duty” as first lady to archive White House contents, which is not exactly true. The White House Curator and the White House Historical Association are primarily responsible for keeping track of the contents of the official White House collection.
“As with all first ladies before me, it was my obligation to record the contents of the historic White House rooms, including archival photos of all renovations. Several months in advance, organized a qualified team of photographersarchivists and designers will work with me in the White House to ensure flawless execution, “he continued.

“If necessary, we plan on January 6, 2021 to complete the work on behalf of our nation,” he added.
Trump’s response comes several weeks after Stephanie Grisham, his former chief of staff, revealed a text message exchange in which the former first lady replied to a tweet Grisham had written. calling for an end to the violence on Capitol Hill as it was happening.
The then first lady responded with the word “no”, refusing to send a statement condemning the insurrection.

In the interview with Fox, Trump claimed he didn’t know what was going on that day, even though it was broadcast all over the world on television and on all social networks. Trump said Grisham “did not provide information” that day.
“If I had been fully informed of all the details, of course, he would immediately report the violence it happened at the Capitol, “said Trump.” And while Grisham’s behavior is disappointing, it’s not surprising nor is it an isolated incident. “
In response to Trump’s remarks, Grisham told CNN: “Everything she said is nonsense and she knows it.”
Trump waited until five days after the riots to tweet a condemnation of the violence.
The investigation
The legislative commission investigating the attack on the US Congress by Donald Trump supporters will conclude its hearings this Thursday with a prime-time session in which it will renew its allegations that the former president instigated the insurrection with her lie that she had been robbed of the election and did nothing to stop her.
Congresswoman Elaine Luria, who sits on the committee of seven Democrats and two Republicans and who voted in favor of impeaching Trump after the attack on January 6, 2021, reiterated that it did not act to stop the hundreds of hotheads who stormed Congress when it certified President Joe Biden’s election victory.
“It’s very simple. He did nothing to really stop the riots,” the Virginia Democrat said, despite the fact that “his advisers were continually urging him to act,” Luria told CNN about the former Republican president.
Luria added that the commission will review Trump’s actions “minute by minute”. starting with the incendiary speech he gave near the White Housewhere he claimed that the presidential election in November 2020 had been stolen from him, until he asked the insurgents, who he said were “very special”, to return home.
On the other hand, the committee’s Republican vice president, Liz Cheney, said the jury will present evidence that “Donald Trump never answered the phone that day to order his administration to help.
“For several hours, Donald Trump refused to intervene to stop” the assault, Cheney said.
The commission sued numerous Trump advisors and advisors in an attempt to determine whether the former president or his associates planned or encouraged the assault that sought to prevent Democrat Joe Biden from being certified as a victory.
