González on Wednesday urged Congress to impeach Castillo on the grounds that the president obstructed justice and protected members of his inner circle.

The president, meanwhile, addressed the issue during a public event, claiming his government was committed to fighting corruption, putting the former minister’s statements in perspective.
“We don’t have time to distract ourselves with other things. We are not here to do the circus, the country has sent us here to work on health, development, the frontline fight against corruption and the huge gaps left by previous governments.” , declared during the delivery of ambulances donated by Castillo, Japan.
– Four investigations – Pedro Castillo, who will complete one year in power on July 28, is accumulating four investigations against himself by the Public Ministry, counting a new one.

But Castillo has immunity as head of state and will not be brought to justice until the end of his term in July 2026.
