India: a minister hospitalized after drinking water from a holy river to demonstrate its cleanliness

Bhagwant Mann, Chief Minister of the State of Punjab, drank a glass of water from the holy river of Kali Bein. Two days later, suffering from severe stomach pains, he was airlifted to the hospital.

Bhagwant Mann, chief minister of the Indian state of Punjab, had to be rushed to hospital on Tuesday, two days after drinking a glass of water from the Kali Bein, a holy river.

According to information from theindian express, the elected official complained on Tuesday night of intense stomach pain, while he was at his official residence in Chandigarh, in the north of the country. The chosen one was rushed by plane to Indraprastha Apollo Hospital.

Concordant sources assured the newspaper that his hospitalization was directly linked to the consumption of water from the river.

22nd anniversary of the river cleanup

Wanting to demonstrate his cleanliness, Bhagwant Mann had drunk a glass of water from this stream, during a visit to mark the 22nd anniversary of the cleansing of Kali Bein. A trip immortalized by the government, which published photos of the minister with a glass in hand.

This Friday, the chosen one was back in his post, according to our Indian colleagues, and visited the family of a military man killed in the Ladakh region.
