White House Covid-19 coordinator Ashish Jha said on Sunday that President Joe Biden, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday, has recovered and that none of his 17 close contacts identified so far have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Jha told ABC News that Biden “had a great day yesterday, feeling good” and Biden’s close contacts continue to follow US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention protocols.

Biden, 79, had mild symptoms, according to the White House. His diagnosis came as a highly contagious sub-variant of the coronavirus, spurring a new wave of cases in the United States.

Jha told Fox this Sunday morning that Biden probably has this BA5 variant.

The White House has tried to highlight Biden’s ability to cope with his illness. On Thursday, he posted a video reassuring Americans that he was fine, and on Friday he attended virtual meetings with White House officials.
