Two years from the 2024 presidential elections, for which Joe Biden seems to be badly embarked and this while Donald Trump could represent the Republicans, this new party, which does not pretend to be “neither right nor left”, wants to be. an “alternative for the American people”.

A rhetoric close to that of En Marche

Specifically, Andrew Yang’s centrist-liberal party (Forward Party) is merging with two other small organizations (Serve America Movement and Renew America Movement), whose members are mostly former Democrats or Republicans.

In their joint declaration, the founders of the “Partido Adelante” denounce the behavior of “the extreme left and the extreme right”. They use the same rhetoric as En Marche when it was founded by Emmanuel Macron about overcoming divisions, believing that the United States needs a “new majority based on moderation and common sense.”

According to the Reuters news agency, several analysts of American political life believe, however, that it will surely be impossible for the “Forward Party” to establish itself as a major political force in the United States.

This is due to the country’s electoral system, where the main elections are by indirect universal suffrage in a single round. Over the years, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party have therefore never been overthrown by an “independent” third party, such as the Libertarian Party.
