“Soon our country will have regained its strength.” Five months after the start of the war in Ukraine, the Russian defense minister shared his vision of the future on Thursday. Sergei Shoigu assured during a speech that there will be “a Soviet Union again”.
“Soon our country will regain its strength, there will be a Soviet Union again and we will live in peace again,” he said.
Ukraine ‘will not give up’
Russian troops continue their offensive in Ukraine, where several regions are under bombardment. Attacks on military and civilian infrastructure left several dead and dozens injured on Thursday and Friday, according to local authorities.
For its part, the Russian army accused Ukraine this Friday morning of having bombed a Ukrainian prison camp. Strikes that would have left 40 dead and 75 injured.
If for Sergei Shoigu, “all these events” will soon belong “to the past”, Volodymyr Zelensky promised Thursday on Telegram that Ukraine “will not give up and will not give up.”
