Sudden heavy rains have hit various parts of the United Arab Emirates in recent days, flooding roads and stranding some residents.

It would be one of the most important episodes of rainfall in the last thirty years in the country for the month of July, according to the National Emergency Service for Disaster and Crisis Attention.

4,225 people evacuated

“Specialized police teams have worked in coordination with the authorities in charge of National Disaster Emergencies and Crisis Management to respond to any emergency related to the torrential rains and floods that affect various regions of the country,” Brigadier leader Ali said on Thursday. 870 people were saved by the rescue in the cities of Sharjah and Fujairah, and another 4,225 were evacuated, according to the latest report released Thursday night by the authorities. They were temporarily relocated to twenty hotels in the country.

The authorities recommend that the population be “cautious” and not go to the valleys with heavy rains or near torrents. It is also not advisable to leave the house if it is not affected by water, especially in areas with heavy rains.

1,638 people are still mobilized this Friday in rescue and assistance operations for the affected population.
