Ukraine this Tuesday (2) denounced that the Russians are planning to hold a rock concert at the Azovstal steelworks, which was the scene of bloody clashes during the siege of Mariupol.
“The Russian invaders are planning to hold a rock concert at the Azovstal steelworks, where hundreds of Ukrainian fighters died defending the city of Mariupol. They continue to break records in their cynicism,” the city said in a message posted on Telegram.
The Ukrainian city council also stressed that the Russians “try to distract residents from real problems with events and entertainments.”
“They don’t provide normal water or heating, but perform in a city where hundreds of bodies are still under rubble,” the statement said.
Russian Defense Minister Segui Shoigu said in May that the operation at the Azovstal steelworks was completed and the site was “wholly” under the control of Moscow forces.
The complex was the last stronghold in Russian-occupied Mariupol and became a symbol of Ukrainian resistance under the bombing of Moscow.
