On July 21, the White House announced that Biden had been infected with COVID-19 and had “mild symptoms”. The diagnosis led to the suspension of the bilateral meeting that the president of the United States had agreed with the Argentine president, Alberto Fernández, for July 27 at the White House.

From then on, mandatory solitary confinement was enacted and Biden continued to work from the White House. Her doctor prescribed Paxlovid antiviral for her and over the next few days she reported improvements every day. On July 27, she was released from solitary confinement after testing negative the day before.

However, after testing negative for four consecutive days, an antigen test last Saturday proved it the virus was still present in the body of the president, who has returned to isolate himself.
