For now, as in France, toxicological analyzes have not detected any trace of a toxic product and no violence has been reported.

The Spanish police investigate after dozens of testimonies and complaints from young women who claim to have received injections at parties, something similar to what has already happened in several other European countries, including the United Kingdom and France.

These complaints and denunciations have been made in recent weeks to the police or on social networks with, in the background, the fear of chemical submissions for the purpose of sexual assault. At the moment, toxicological analyzes have not detected any trace of a toxic product and no violence has been reported.

In Catalonia, in the northeast of the country, the police have recorded 23 cases, the majority in the tourist town of Lloret de Mar, but also in Barcelona, while in the Basque Country, the police have received twelve complaints in the last two weeks.

No chemicals detected

The stories are similar: the victims, mostly young women, are at night when they feel a sting, usually on the arm or leg, shortly after feeling dizzy or sleepy, according to a press release from the Basque Police.

But the analyzes carried out so far have not detected any trace of drugs and no sexual assault has been reported, as occurs after attempts at chemical submission. Likewise, no other crimes or misdemeanors have been reported, such as theft.

Without clues at the moment, the police ask people who believe they have suffered such an attack to go to a health center as soon as possible and report the facts.

800 complaints in France

Similar testimonies began to multiply in 2021 in the United Kingdom, then this year in France, where almost 800 complaints had been registered as of June 16.

The phenomenon appeared in Spain at the beginning of July, when eight complaints were filed during the famous San Fermín festival in Pamplona, in the north.

While surveillance and support measures are implemented, the Spanish authorities and police call for caution not to feed a feeling of psychosis.
