Russia’s Defense Ministry said in its daily report released on Tuesday that Russian forces killed about 500 Ukrainian soldiers in an attack in northeastern Ukraine’s Kharkiv region.
Defense spokesman General Igor Konashenkov said Russian high-precision weapons “killed as many as 500 nationalists of the 92nd Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.”
He stated that the attacks were carried out in the cities of Merefa and Chuhuiv.
In the south, in the Mykolaiv region, Russia added that it had hit a makeshift Foreign Legion base fighting in Ukraine.
As a result of this attack, “up to 250 mercenaries were killed and 20 military equipment destroyed”.
Konashenkov also reported that seven weapons depots were destroyed in the Donetsk region and two in Zaporizhzhya and Mykolaiv.
Ukraine does not officially comment on its losses in the conflict, which is a state secret, but estimates that it caused more than 40,000 deaths in the ranks of the Russian military.
