Nine miners are likely stranded after a coal mine in Coahuila state collapsed, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said on Wednesday.
“I hope we find them safe,” López Obrador said on Twitter, adding that the collapse of the mine caused flooding within the site.

He said about 90 members of the National Defense Secretariat were at the scene, along with experts and rescue dogs.

The mine is located in the municipality of Sabinas, and local media featured images of family members asking about the miners outside the facility.
