The former right-hand man of Donald Trump, Mike Pence, denounced on Tuesday the raid by the FBI of the former US president’s home, which he could oppose in 2024 to seek the Republican presidential nomination.
“I share the deep concern of millions of Americans following the unprecedented search of President Trump’s private residence,” Mike Pence tweeted.
On Monday night, Donald Trump announced in a press release that his luxurious Florida home had been “searched and occupied by numerous agents” of the federal police.
“Political Persecution”
Conservatives were unanimous in denouncing “political persecution.” Mike Pence, whose reaction was later, said Tuesday that “yesterday’s actions undermine (have) public confidence in our judicial system.”
“After years of discovering that FBI agents acted for political reasons during our administration, the perception of bias in the Department of Justice must be addressed,” criticized the four-year vice president of Donald Trump.
The pair have been estranged since Mike Pence refused to oppose the certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election, despite pleas from Donald Trump, who claims the ballot was “stolen” from him. Both are now expected to run for president in 2024.
